Obituary

Arlene Rosetta (Gringer) Noble

Birth: April 10, 1929 – Iowa City, Iowa

Death: August 16, 2023 – Yuma, Arizona

Arlene Noble, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at her home with her daughter at her side.

Arlene was born April 10, 1929, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Frieda Gringer (Schwab) and Florance Gringer.

She grew up on a farm outside of Hills, Iowa and loved doing any of the farm activities with her father.  However, she loathed doing the farmer's wife chores. Following graduation from Iowa City High School, Arlene attended a Diploma Nursing program at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and became a registered nurse.

In 1953 Arlene and a close friend and nurse moved to Jackson Wyoming to work in the small log hospital.  It was there in Wyoming that she met the love of her life Robert (Bob) C. Noble, Sr.   The meeting occurred at the Muddy Cow Camp, during fall roundup when the two nurses were invited to a steak dinner.

Arlene always said, "I've had a good life", and indeed she did.  Arlene and Bob enjoyed 65 years of marriage.  During those years they raised two children, had successful careers, and enjoyed extensive travel.

Arlene and Bob lived in the Big Piney, WY area until 1967.  The family then moved about spending time in Reno, NV, Hill City, KS and Boulder, CO until settling in Salt Lake City, UT in 1969.  Following her retirement in 1983 Bob and Arlene began traveling and fulltime RVing for seven years.  In 1990 they moved to Alaska and remained there full time until 2013.  For the next ten years they wintered in Pahrump, NV and most recently in Yuma, AZ – spending the summers in Alaska most years.

Arlene always loved travel and as recently as the summer of 2022, Arlene and her daughter spent two months traveling in the Pacific Northwest to avoid the heat of Yuma, AZ.

Arlene enjoyed puzzles and games of all kinds and could be found working on jigsaw puzzles or solving Sudoku and other games.  She also enjoyed crocheting and made several afghans as well as Swedish embroidery and made many towels.

Arlene is proceeded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) C. Noble Sr.  She is survived by her daughter Beckie Noble, son Bob Noble, daughter-in-law Lori Noble, granddaughter Brianne Atoruk, grandson-in-law Shane Atoruk, and great granddaughter Camille Atoruk.  Also, brother Donald Gringer and wife Mary, many nieces and nephews, their families, and dear friends.

Bob and Arlene requested their ashes be combined to ensure they are "together forever" and will be interred in the Plainview Cemetery in Big Piney, Wyoming later.
