Barbara Jeanne Senko passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2017.

Barbara Jeanne (Buckman) Senko was born in Littleton, NH on May 13, 1934. A ward of the state from age 11, she attended the University of New Hampshire, then trained to be an X-ray technician at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, NH. After living and working in Boston for five years, she returned to New Hampshire, where she met and married Robert Senko. In 1966, they moved with their family to Stratham, NH. Barbara began volunteering at the local library part-time. She was hired by the library and eventually became head librarian and retired after 26 years of service.

With their sons grown up, she and Bob retired to Yuma, AZ in 1996. They became involved as members and volunteers at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 in Yuma. They traveled back to New England and enjoyed various summer jobs in campgrounds and visiting their grandchildren. As past commander of the DAV Auxiliary , Barbara remained active there after Bob's passing in 2005. In recent years, ill health kept her housebound.

She is survived by her son Gregory Senko, his wife Linda Foss and their children Alex and Anastasia Senko of Kingston, NH, and by her son Bradley Senko and his wife Jeannette of Hudson, NH.

A memorial service for Barbara will be held on Friday, April 28 at 1pm at the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11, 954 S. 13th Ave., Yuma (928-783-6661). The service will be followed by a luncheon.
