Obituary

Catherine "Katie" Green Breeding, a longtime Yuma resident, passed peacefully on Tuesday evening, January 26, 2015, at the age of 85 at Yuma Regional Hospital in Yuma, Arizona. She was active in her community until the last two weeks of her life, living -- as she had for nearly 30 years -- in her home at Sun Vista RV Park in Yuma, Arizona. Here, Katie was known to all as she headed up bridge games, participated in gardening, water aerobics, and many other community activities of which she enjoyed.

She was born and raised in Nevada, Mo. on November 17, 1929 to Hazel and Ralph Green.

She wed her beloved husband, Howard, also of Nevada, in 1947. Katie and Howard were married until his death following a long illness in 2006.

Howard rejoined the United States Army after WWII and together, raised their family of four children beginning with Cheryl in 1949, Michael in 1951, Gary in 1954, Mark in 1956. Their world travels together included Aberdeen, Maryland, Tokyo, Japan, Fulda, Germany, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kaiserslautern, Germany and finally Seneca, New York. After proudly serving his country, upon retirement from the Army, Howard's next job took them to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they continued to raise their family until all the children left home.

Once they had an empty nest, they built a weekend cabin in Jemez Springs, New Mexico but eventually turned to RV travels across the country. They continued to spend half of each year traveling to and from Albuquerque, New Mexico to visit the many friends they made during their twenty years together as a military family. Eventually, the travels settled down to back and forth between Yuma and Albuquerque, before finally settling full time in Yuma, approximately 10 years ago.

Cherishing her memory, are her children, Cheryl, Michael (wife Rita), Gary (wife Nan), and Mark (wife Robin); grandchildren, Attalissa, Benjamin, Rebecca, Katie, Michael, Kristy, Debra, Ryan, Laci and Tara; and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services to be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 417 S. 15th Avenue, Yuma. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Sun Vista RV Park, 7201 E. 32nd Street, Yuma. Memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project..
