David Lee Manning, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on September 26, 1953 to Norma Hansen and Lieutenant Colonel James Manning of Massachusetts, David served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War as a member of the Air Force Lifecrew. His military service was a defining chapter in his life, and one he took pride in. After his honorable discharge, he attended college in Oregon.

David spent much of his adult life in Florida, where he continued to pursue his lifelong interests in writing, genealogy, and history. He was an admirer of The Beatles and state parks. He was also a thoughtful reader. Among his favorite books was The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Newton, and his granddaughter, Scarlett Newton. He also leaves behind his brothers, John Manning and Colonel Bob Manning, and his nieces and nephews, Kerry, Michael, Diana, Tim, Amy, and Joy. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Colonel Jim Manning and Staci Jewell, and nephew, Mike Machowski.

In his final years, David lived in Yuma, Arizona, in the care and company of his beloved brother John, whose presence brought him comfort and stability.

In remembrance of David's service, the family asks that donations be made in his name to The Wounded Warrior Project .

"Some of you say, 'Joy is greater than sorrow,' and others say, 'Nay, sorrow is the greater.'
But I say unto you, they are inseparable."
— Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
