Celebrating a Life Well-Lived
Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dennis Wayne Sykora, known to those that loved him as Big D, who left us peacefully on October 10, 2025, at the age of 74. Dennis was a devoted and faithful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all that he met. He is remembered for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for family and friends.
Born on August 10, 1951, in Duluth, Minnesota, spent the bulk of his life in Shelton, Washington with his lovely wife of fifty-seven years, Patricia Sykora. He grew up in the Northwest, working as a brush picker, a passion he got from his parents. He was a man of numerous talents and was successful working in many skilled trades. Much of his working years spent as a millwright and further enhanced his welding craft after graduating from South Puget Sound Community College's welding program. He handcrafted exceptional metal art that he frequently donated to local charities. He also enjoyed dancing with his beloved wife and singing karaoke with friends.
Survived By
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Pat, and his son, Tony. He leaves behind his cherished grandsons, Forrest and Quinn, as well as two beautiful great granddaughters, Aspen and Willow. He leaves behind his four sisters; Shirley, Linda, Dee, and Luana. His brother Alan preceded him in death. Dennis's life was enriched by numerous friends, all of whom will miss him dearly and remember the warmth and kindness he shared with everyone he met.
A memorial service will be held in the Pacific Northwest at a future date. Instead of flowers or donations, please honor Dennis by performing an act of kindness for someone else, reflecting his belief in "Paying it Forward."
We will forever cherish the memories we have spent with Dennis for his laughter, wisdom, unconditional love and signature mustache. He will remain in our hearts always.
