Ernesto Ramirez, Jr.

June 27, 1989 - July 3, 2023

Ernesto Ramirez, Jr., 34, of Yuma, AZ was born at Yuma Regional Hospital. He was the first son of Ernesto Ramirez, Sr. and Maria Urias. He passed away July 3, 2023.

Ernesto graduated from Cibola High School class of 2007. He enlisted in the military and was a combat decorated veteran and Purple Heart recipient from his tours in Afghanistan. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice.

Ernesto was a proud father. He is survived by his two daughters, Leia Ramirez (mother Kenya Hicks), Jaylah (mother Tanya Tapia). He is also survived by his mother, Maria Urias; father Ernesto Ramirez, Sr.; sister Selina Ramirez (Ronald Soto); nephew, Elijah Soto; niece Lorelai Soto; brother, Haziel Ramirez; grandmother, Angelina Calderon; grandmother, Lucina Ramirez; grandfather, Ignacio Ramirez; and many more extended family members as well as his beloved friends.

His hobbies included working on model airplanes, collecting Star Wars figurines, collecting sneakers, and playing video games with his friends.

Viewing will be held at Sunset Vista Funeral Home, 11357 East 40th Street Yuma, AZ 85367 on July 12, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with Rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11545 East 40th St, Yuma, AZ 85367, on July 13th, 2023 at 10:00 am with Graveside Service to follow at Sunset Vista Cemetery at 11:00 am.

Celebration of Life will be held at VFW Post 1763, 2485 E 14th St., Yuma, AZ 85365, on July 13th, 2023 at 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

His visible wounds healed but the emotional effects of war never left him.
