It is with profound sadness to share the passing of Gary Boone, 74, who peacefully left us on September 19, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona.

Gary was born on December 20, 1949, in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma, and would soon move to Yuma, Arizona.  He attended Yuma High School and was a member of the Yuma High Band, where he was first chair saxophone.  Gary had a deep love for music and often enjoyed listening to his favorite group The Beach Boys.  He would later graduate from Yuma High School in 1967.

At a young age he developed a love for the outdoors (camping, fishing, and hunting), a love he would later share with his three boys.  He enjoyed watching his daughter perform at numerous dance recitals, and spending time with his two grandsons.   Gary loved sports and was a huge fan of Oklahoma Sooner football, and the Arizona Diamondbacks.  For thirty years, Gary was the owner of Boone Heating and Air Conditioning in Yuma, Arizona, before retiring.

Gary is preceded in death by grandparents Maude and Orville Boone, his mother and stepfather Bennie and Archie Mellon, and stepbrother Dave Mellon.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of fifty years Colleen Boone, his four children Brian, Keith, Julie, and Ryan Boone, and his two grandsons Blaine and Hunter Boone.

His sister Terri (Jimmy) Olive, his brother Wayne Mellon, and stepbrothers Doug (Pam) Mellon, Greg Mellon, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gary was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers are Brian Boone, Keith Boone, Ryan Boone, Blaine Boone, Steve Hardy, and Wesley Splawn.  Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Boone, Charlie Splawn, and Cody Culpepper.

Visitation will be at Sunset Vista Funeral Home (11357 E. 40th St., Yuma, AZ 85367) on Wednesday October 2, 2024 from 4 pm-9 pm with a rosary beginning at 7 pm.  Funeral services will be held at St. John Neumann Church (11545 E. 40th St., Yuma, AZ 85367) on Thursday October 3, 2024 at 10 am, with reception to follow at the St. John Neumann reception hall.  Gary will enter his final resting place on Friday October 4, 2024 at the St. John Neumann Columbarium.
