Gary William
Showalter
Sep 6, 1946 — May 9, 2023
Yuma
William Showalter on September 6, 1946. He spent his childhood years farming with his family near Rockport, Missouri.
He joined the Air Force at 17 and served in the Vietnam War. After his enlistment, he completed his bachelor's degree in accounting at Washburn University where he played football.
In 1975, he married Patti Quick and then moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1978 where he worked as a real estate agent and ended his 40 year career as the managing broker of Keller Williams in Bothell, Washington. During this career, he played highly competitive baseball and softball as well as raised a family. In the mid 1980s, his life came to a major turning point when he met his Savior, Jesus Christ. This relationship with Christ and his daughters led him to acting in numerous church productions and his ultimate passion of coaching--and "couch" coaching--women's fastpitch softball, which he did for 28 years.
He deeply loved sports, shoes, watches, baseball caps, Dobermans, classic cars, and his family, including eleven grandchildren.
"Papa Show" will always be remembered for his big hugs and heart, humor, and kindness.
Gary was preceded in death by his father William, mother Ruth, and sister Jane Little. He is survived by his wife Patti, sisters Marilou Showalter and Lisa (Robb) Bertel, daughters Kimberly, Halle (Michael) Showalter-Salas and Loryn (Brady) Woolley.
You are invited to his celebration of life Saturday, June 17th, at 1rpm at Northview Community Church 18303 Bothell-Everett Highway, Bothell, WA 98021. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of his favorite charities, Wounded Warriors or Tunnel to Towers.
