Joseph Douglas Myers
February 25, 1949 - October 15, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, Joseph Douglas Myers, who passed away on October 15, 2025, at the age of 76. Joseph was born on February 25, 1949, in El Reno, Oklahoma, to Paul Glen Myers and Carol Jean Gatewood (Gothberg).
Joe was married to his eternal wife, Kathy, with whom he shared 43 years of marriage, and whom he cared for until the very end. Together they raised three daughters, Monica (Jon), Candace, and Lindie (Mike), and were blessed with several grandchildren: Miray, Leah, Kaylee, Cameron, Jaron, Karsynn, Emma, Talon, Joshua, Jaxton, and Izabella, as well as one great granddaughter, Bonie. Joe is survived by his siblings, Janet Koffron and Gary (Patty Jean) Myers, and was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth (Leesa) Myers, and sister, Paula Love.
Joe faithfully provided for his family throughout his life. He helped in the restaurants his mother managed, cleaned office buildings as a teenager, and worked as an elevator operator, a bank teller, and auto mechanic. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War and later built a long and dedicated career with the United States Postal Service, where he was an active member of the APWU (American Postal Workers Union).
After retirement, Joe and Kathy enjoyed being snowbirds, spending their summers in Utah managing campgrounds and golfing during the winters in Arizona. He made friends wherever he went and loved spending time on the golf course with his buddies. He cherished moments with his grandchildren and enjoyed sharing stories of his life and adventures.
Joe was known for his deep knowledge of the scriptures, his quick wit, and his passion for computers. He loved to tease and be silly, bringing laughter to those around him. Joe enjoyed boating, coding on computers, genealogy, golfing, watching Star Trek, and reading, especially the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. He was proud to have traveled and set foot in every state and on almost every continent.
Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend. He loved his family deeply and served faithfully in his church and community. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have supported and cared for Joe and Kathy.
A memorial service will be held at Camp Williams on Thursday, November 13th, at 11:00 am,
commencing with the Color Guard ceremony. A light luncheon will follow the services.
