Lloyd Richard Summers passed away on October 8, 2024 at the age of 83. Lloyd was born June 19, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho to Ralph and Lucille Summers (nee Agenbroad) and graduated Marsing High School class of 1959. Lloyd was proceeded in death by his wife of 59 years Heide Summers who passed away in 2020. He is survived by his son Henry Richard Summers (Karla; grandchildren Willie, Jessica, Travis, Shane, eleven great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren) and his daughter Melody Summers (Mark Jones, grandson Ty Jones) (Michael Roos, grandson Alan Roos). Lloyd's siblings Include Carol Haines (Floyd), Judy Kirkhart (Jerry), MaryAnn Domeq (Joe), Patti McIntyre Monroe, Rob McIntyre (Sandra) and a slew of nieces and nephews.
Lloyd joined the US Army in 1959. After bootcamp he was stationed in Germany where he met and married Heide. He brought his new bride back to Caldwell, Idaho and dropped her at the family farm and went on his first of two deployments to Vietnam. After his second deployment and subsequent production of two children he attended Officer's training school and committed to a life-long career in the Army. In 1973 he was stationed to Fort Greely, Alaska and assigned to the Arctic Test Center (later Cold Regions Test Center). He fell in love with Alaska and in 1979, after 20 years in the Army, retired and returned to the small community of Delta Junction where he and Heide and their two children made their home.
After retiring from the military and later civil service Lloyd and Heide relocated to Nampa, Idaho where he started volunteering at the Canyon County Sheriff's office. He was hooked into the law enforcement lifestyle and attended the police academy graduating as the oldest cadet on record at the age of 40. He served as a Deputy Sheriff in Canyon County for a number of years and "retired" again and returned once again to Alaska.
Many years of snowbirding between Alaska, Idaho and Arizona ultimately landed Lloyd and Heide in Yuma Arizona as year round "Yumans" in 2018.
Lloyd will be remembered as a son, brother, husband, uncle, and father as well as friend to many as a man of great integrity and intent. His motto was "Lead, Follow, or Get Out of the Way" and for those who knew Lloyd; they knew he meant it.
