Luella Abel died October 11, 2025 in Yuma, Arizona. She was born at Long Prairie, MN, on October 23, 1935, to Paul and Louisa (Schultz) Friese. Luella grew up in Long Prairie, being graduated from LP high School in 1953. She married Erving D. Abel, Jr. in Long Prairie on April 25, 1954. They had two children, Bradley and Debra.

Luella was employed by Lux Hardware in Long Prairie for a short time before her marriage. Later she was employed by IBM at the Duluth, MN Air Force Base and General Electric at its jet engine repair plant in Arkansas City, KS. Following her husband's transfer to Grand Forks, ND Luella was employed by a law firm for six years before mobbing to Bismarck, ND, where she was employed by law firm for nine years. Then the family moved to Dickinson, ND, where Luella was employed by a law firm for 16 years before retiring in 1997. After retirement Luella and her husband spent winters in Yuma, AZ. In 2011 they moved to Yuma permanently.

During her career as a legal secretary, Luella was a member of three local Associations of Legal Secretaries, and the State and National Associations. She held every office in the local associations and almost all offices in the State Assn, including that of ND State President from 1978 -1980.

Luella enjoyed sewing, reading, golfing and bowling, especially her high game of 297.

Luella was predeceased by her husband, Erving, of 67 years, her son, Bradley, her parents, three brothers, two sisters-in-law, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, one son-in-law, one nephew and four nieces. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Evans of Mobridge, SD, her grandson, Kellen Abel of Gillette, WY, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Friese, of Fort Worth, TX , and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
