Obituary

Margaret Ann (Peggy) Mergen died peacefully at Maxi's Loving Place on June 16, 2022. Born December 9, 1930 in Baltimore Maryland to Commander and Mrs. H. A. Mewshaw and soon after  relocating to San Francisco. At age eleven Peggy was joined by her beloved brother Ron. She cherished her childhood memories of horseback riding with her aunt in Baltimore during summer vacations.

Mom graduated from Mercy High in1947 and went on to St. Mary's School of Nursing graduating in 1951 which began her forty six year nursing career.

She married Michael Mergen and together they raised three girls Kathy, Patty and Terry. The family moved to Placerville in the Sierra foothills so she could share her love of horses with the girls on their small ranch.

In the 70's her love of horses took her to the show pen with her champion appaloosa. Her horse career was a highlight of her life.

Mom retired in the mid 90's and eventually relocated to Yuma making many friends in her Foothills home. She was very active St. John Neuman Catholic Church. She volunteered at Yuma Regional Medical Center and the Humane Society. And of course she couldn't resist adopting a chihuahua or two. She loved her fur kids more than anything.

Mom spent nearly three years at Maxi's Loving Place in Yuma where Maxi, Maria and staff loved and cared for her. Thank you for all you did for Mom. And many thanks to Hospice Compassus who were always there for Mom's comfort and care.

We love you Mom.
