Maria de la Cruz Herrera Cortez went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2014. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Alfredo C. Cortez. She is survived by sons Juan Alfredo, Andres H., Jose Antonio and David Damian; grandchildren Timothy, Mathew, Andrea, Talia, Jose, Bathany, Kaitlyn, Andrea and Kyle; great grandchildren Augustina, Eziquiel, Kaleb, Andrea, Phoenix, Zodia, Tristian and John; and sisters Alicia Garcia and Carment Tijerina. Cruz was the daughter of a migrant family and had twelve brothers and sisters. She married Alfredo in Yuma, AZ in 1952. She was a loving military wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Services will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 314 Dodson St., Gila Bend, AZ on Friday, March 28, 2014. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Rosary will be at 11:00 a.m. Mass begins at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Gila Bend, AZ.
