Mary Ann
Bowen
Jun 20, 1952 — Jan 19, 2026
Mary Ann Bowen (née Deffenbaugh) passed away on January 19, 2026, in Yuma, Arizona, at the age of 73. Born in San Francisco, California, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Darril "Rusty" Bowen; her children, Michele (Darrin) Walton, Cindy Truchot (Mike Siebke), Jacob Bowen (Brook Sherman), and Isaac (Katie) Bowen; along with 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brother, Johnny Deffenbaugh; her mother-in-law, Esther Bowen; and her cousins, Trudy Martini and Beverly Morlan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Teresa Deffenbaugh; her brothers, Ray and Joseph Deffenbaugh; her father-in-law, Darril Bowen; and her beloved aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Marvin Elmore who held a special place in her heart and were like parents to her.
Mary had a passion for sewing, quilting, and crafting, expressing her creativity through vibrant works of art that she enjoyed sharing with everyone. She loved spending time outdoors, particularly camping at Anderson Ranch Dam near Pine, Idaho, a place that held many special memories for her and her family. Mary had a deep affection for animals—especially horses—which was reflected throughout her home in cherished pictures and statues. Her Boston Terriers held a special place in her heart and were fondly referred to as her babies.
Despite facing health challenges in her later years, Mary enjoyed life as a snowbird for the past seven years, relishing the sun and the company of new friends. Her vibrant and playful spirit and love for her family will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held this summer at Anderson Ranch Dam, with details to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to a local animal shelter or horse rescue in her memory.
