Mateo Galaviz Rodriguez was born on April 22, 1936 in Chicorato Sinaloa, Mexico and passed away on October 23, 2024 in Yuma, Arizona.

He migrated to the US in the 1980's and spent time in San Francisco, Blythe, and then settled in Somerton, Arizona with his partner Rosa Flores. He worked in agriculture as an irrigator of the many fields in Yuma County. He enjoyed time with family, music, storytelling, watching Mexican & American westerns, and a good carne asada. His final years were spent living in Yuma with his grandson, Jesse and great granddaughter, Layla.

Mateo is survived by his six children and 17 grandchildren:

Maria de Los Angeles Galaviz (Mayra, Randy, and Tiffany), Elvia Galaviz (Cristian, Daisy, and Matthew), Jesus Galabiz (Natalia, Jesus, and Alejandro), Rita Galaviz (Lupillo, Alain, and Melissa), Rufina Galaviz (Jonathan), and and Vidal Galaviz (Elizabeth, Claudia, Elgar, and Alexander). He also had 13 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marciano Rodriguez and Rufina Galaviz.

Viewing services will be held at Sunset Vista Funeral Home Friday, November 8,2024 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Mass service will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission  Saturday, November 9 at 9:00 am.
