Obituary

Natalie K. Pool was born Natalie K. Wolowiecki on November 22, 1921 in the small coal mining town of Iselin, Pennsylvania. She grew up with one brother and three sisters. She passed away peacefully on July 7, 2017 at the age of 95 at Copper Place, Senior Living facility in the Yuma Foothills. She was a Yuma resident for over 62 years (since 1955). She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband John W. (2006) of 60 years, sisters, Anne Byran and Helen Devine, brother, Nicholas Wolowiecki.

Natalie was a proud WWII veteran. She served in the U.S. Navy WAVES from 1943 to 1945 in Washington, D.C., as a "Top Secret" courier between various offices. She met her husband, John, Chief Gunnery Officer on the USS Northampton, during her service in Washington.

Natalie worked for the Yuma County Assessor's office for 25 years. She was a member for many years of Beta Sigma Phi-Yuma Chapter, a non-academic international women's social, cultural, and service organization.

She is remembered by her family for her many wonderful qualities and skills. A great cook and baker, she is especially remembered for her lemon meringue pies and fried apricot turnovers. She crocheted and cross-stitched. She also possessed a very sharp mind, and enjoyed following current events and telling family stories to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, John D. Pool (Margaret) of Bonita, California, and Richard J. Pool (Ida) of Chandler, Arizona; four grandchildren: Marian (Tim) Huffman, Vanessa (Christopher) Irving, John W., and David; and three Great-grandchildren: Harrison, Jillian, and Scarlett, all of San Diego, California. She is also survived by one sister, Jean McKrisky of Lower Burrell, Penn. and sister-in-law, Dorothy Wolowiecki of Euclid, OH.

A private service for family will be held at Sunset Vista Veterans cemetery.
