Ricky Ray Severe, a loving Husband, Father, Bubba, Brother & Uncle, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday July 2, 2023 in Yuma, AZ surrounded by his loving family. Ricky is survived by his wife Sharon of 48 yrs, his daughter, Breanne Lyn, his grandchildren: Austin (Jasmine) Herrera, Hannah Nicole Herrera, Josh Herrera & Tobias Matthew Roman. His great granddaughter: Gracie Lyn. Ricky is also survived by his brother, Doug (Susie) Severe. Ricky was loved by many nieces, nephews & cousins & an awesome Aunt LuLu! Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Ken & Fay Severe & his daughter, LeAnne Rae Herrera.
Ricky was born in Redding, Ca and raised in Modesto, Ca. He graduated from Thomas Downey High School Class of 1973. He excelled in Football & Wrestling & also did Shot Put in Track. He attended a four year Plumbing Trade School & became a Journeyman Plumber. He absolutely loved plumbing & ran 40+ crew mostly in the Bay Area in New Construction. He was highly know as a professional in every job he did. He married the love of his life, Sharon Gabbard in 1975 at Calvary Temple in Modesto. He cherished his two daughters & his four grands & one great granddaughter. Family was everything to him.
Ricky is remembered first as a faithful Godly man. He was also so giving, loving & supportive of those around him. He loved leading a team of Ministry volunteers for nine years to help with Calvary Temples Nineveh Outreach. He ran & coordinated the Food Bank. He said it was the best thing he had ever done for ministry. He also went with a Ministry Team to Romania to build houses for the orphans. His plumbing came in handy as he stayed longer to help with another project. He loved this.
Ricky was an avid deep sea fisherman & loved going out of San Francisco for those big catches of halibut & tuna. And the Bay for sturgeon. He loved to share this passion with his family.
Soon after Ricky retired, he & his wife Sharon sold everything in Modesto & bought an RV & traveled for the next four years visiting family & friends across America & Canada. He loved our Country and was so patriotic. Ricky & Sharon settled in Yuma, AZ after finishing their tours of America🇺🇸, and bought a home in a 55+ Gated Community. He loved the Community.
Ricky lived a full life & shared his love for his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ wherever he could. Ricky loved his wife Sharon & she was his best friend. They were 19 & 20 when they got married. He had many close friends that he was still in contact with after 40+ years. Family & close friends meant everything to him. He will be missed by so many. There will be a glorious reunion someday! He would ask you if you don't know Jesus, don't wait. Where you spend Eternity is important. Ask the Savior into your heart today.
He would love to have you donate in his name to one of his favorite charities:
