It is with deep sadness to announce the sudden passing of Sergio Gonzalez Castro, 53, of Yuma, Arizona on December 23, 2022.

Sergio was born on October 8, 1969, in San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora, Mexico, and immigrated to the US when he was 1 years old. He grew up in Blythe California and attended Ruth Brown Elementary, Margaret White Middle School, Blythe Junior High, and Palo Verde High School. Growing up, he played with Pure Gro in the Blythe Little League as a left-handed pitcher and his homeruns were legendary. He worked at Palo Verde Irrigation District for several years before moving to Yuma, Arizona.

Most recently, Sergio worked as a landscaper. He could turn any barren landscape into a colorful garden paradise, and his green thumb was exceptional. He was a loving, caring son and brother who you could always count on for a good laugh. He was also an avid cook/baker, enjoyed playing darts with his friends, and loved being with his (and all) dogs—he was the original dog whisperer.

He was lovable, smart, tender, and a giving man. Sergio made friends easily, and was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. And although it failed him, he had the biggest heart. He touched the lives of so many people and will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.

Sergio is survived by his parents, Enrique Gonzalez and Graciela Gonzalez Castro, his brother Martin Gonzalez, and four sisters, Miriam Resendez, Iliana Hernandez, Lorena Mendez, and Monica Villa, along with nieces, nephews, and many friends and family.

We would like to thank you for your continued prayers and support during this time.
