Ursala "Bobby"
Harding
Dec 6, 1940 — Oct 8, 2024
Ursala "Bobby" Harding, a lifelong resident of Republic, Washington, passed away October 8, 2024. She was born on December 6th, 1940, to Ursal and Ella Farris, in Republic, where she spent her entire life, deeply rooted in her community. Bobby graduated from Republic High School in 1959.
In June 1964, Bobby married the love of her life, Roland "Tyke" Harding, at Immaculate Conception Church in Republic and joined the large Harding family. Together, they purchased Farris Hardware from Bobby's grandma Hazel B. Farris in 1970, renaming it Harding's Hardware and Auto Parts, which they operated with pride until their retirement in 1993. The couple's dedication to their family business made them a cherished part of the community for many years including being the Grand Marshalls in the Prospectors Day Parade one year!
In 1975, Bobby and Tyke welcomed their daughter, Marlo, into the world, and she became a central joy in their lives. Bobby's love for her family extended to shared hobbies, including snowmobiling with her husband and friends, and showing horses with her daughter. Bobby was the ultimate "Show Mom" found at fairgrounds all over the state and would host the many friends who would come along for the ride! An avid golfer, Bobby also enjoyed spending time on the course, walking and mushrooming for Shaggy Manes. A devout Catholic, Bobby was an active member of the Altar Society and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, where her faith played a central role in her life. She will be remembered for her strength, love of life, and dedication to family, friends, and community.
After retiring, Bobby and Tyke began traveling across the country in their Coach, eventually finding a second home in Yuma, Arizona, where they spent their winters. There, they formed wonderful friendships that enriched their lives, creating a second family among the close-knit community in Yuma. Bobby took care of her neighbor boy, AJ, who was as close to a grandson as could be. They built Legos and rode bikes and enjoyed each other's company. These cherished friends shared in their adventures and brought them joy during their winters away from Republic.
Bobby and Tyke just celebrated 60 years of marriage in June 2024, a milestone that reflects the enduring love they shared.
Bobby was preceded in death by her father, Ursal; her mother, Ella; and her sister, Hazel, of Florida. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tyke; her daughter, Marlo, (Cory), of Carson City; her sisters, Joanne Farris and Marsha Schroeder, of Republic; her nephew, Matthew Short, (Patty), of Republic; her niece, Alisha Short, of Republic; and the Palmer families of Florida, along with many great-nieces and nephews and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
A small ceremony will take place in November in Yuma, with another planned for next summer where she will be laid to rest in the Republic cemetery next to her parents. The family is asking any donations go to the Republic Catholic Church.
