Walter George McMorris

December 8, 1940 - January 14, 2024

Yuma has lost another one of the "good ones "! Walter George "Wally " McMorris passed away on January 14th, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born December 8th, 1940, and was raised in Yuma.

He was a Yuma Criminal - Class of 1960, and later went on to serve in the Yuma National Guard as a Bushmaster. He married his High School Sweetheart, Barbara Campbell in 1963. They had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary December 2023.

Wally was a social man and loved to converse with anyone. Give him a few minutes of time and he would make a friend out of a perfect stranger. He especially loved telling stories about his life experiences (All True) and cracking jokes. Wally also loved the great outdoors where he and his family spent a lot of time camping out and following the Baja and US off-road races. We could always make room for one more kid to ride with us. He was also known to many as the Operations Manager for Hertz Rent-A-Car where he worked for 39 years before retiring.

He is Survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Thomas Walter McMorris (Amalia); daughter, Lea Stanhope (Kevin); granddaughter, Kailey Jo Valdez (Doug); sister Elva Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Rosa McMorris; brothers-in-law, Robert and Richard Campbell; and a huge circle of nephews, nieces, cousins, special honorary family members, comps and friends aplenty.

Walter was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Josephine McMorris; brothers, Thomas Arnold, Alfred Gene (Betty); father and mother-In-law, Walt and Louise Campbell.
